Mike & Ikes (No More?)

These pictures were taken a few months ago, but I want to document them, because they are quirky and I am quirky!

Apparently, Mike & Ike are breaking up: http://newsfeed.time.com/2012/04/13/mike-and-ike-break-up-in-new-candy-ad-campaign/

I got these pictures, after what I thought was random graffiti, and then carefully examining the packages, realized that they were printed on the boxes.

The Pelican Brief

I wanted to get a good shot of the pelicans on the Jordan River, and I stopped to take this one (Nate kept going, and it took some work to catch back up with him). This is on the Jordan River trail, that I ride into work. This is a morning shot on Friday July 20th.

Railroad near 7 Peaks

This is the railroad tracks near 7 Peaks (the old Raging Waters). The Jordan River bike trail goes right past 7 peaks, to the point that you can smell the chlorine and sun screen. I really like this location; in my opinion, you can't go wrong taking a picture of railroad tracks, and this is a nice semi-rural setting.

Interesting Statues

Thursday was my last day car pooling with Dirk, as he is getting a new job. There are two interesting statues on 700 South, that I have walked by several times on the way home. I have been meaning to take a snap shot of them and as I probably won't be near that area again regularly, I decided the time was now.

Scouts and Nostalgia

I am planning a 50 mile hike with my ward, and two other wards. One of these wards is my Dad's ward, where I grew up.

We had a meet and greet on Wednesday night at their ward house, and it was nice to be back there and meet a few people I know. We played a game of ultimate Frisbee with the guys and it was fun. I took a couple pictures of the trees there, which are memorable to me. I also have a strange memory of scouts during the summer, where we were leaving the building and some other boys shot a bottle rocket at us (we were in a car I think; that or on bikes - for some reason I can't exactly remember) and seeing it flash by.

Anyway, here are the trees:

Thursday Ride Home

I rode home again Thursday, but I was lower energy then the other day. Still, I enjoyed it and there was a nice view of the mountains and river that I took (I am actively looking for pictures each day).

That is a nice stretch of the Jordan River Park Trail; I like the bridge too.

I came home and played some games with Emily and my nephew Devan. It was a fun evening.

I want to ride my bicycle

OK, after thinking long and hard (a couple minutes), I have decided to maintain the "integrity" of this blog and keep the posts here. I thought I would start out with a bike ride type post, as that is what is on my mind lately.

This is a picture of my bike frame, featuring a Star Bike Shop sticker; I was pleasantly surprised to find that I could link to this shop. On my mission, our apartment was right across the street and we were over there many times, and eventually bought this very bike there. Today, I got a few compliments about the bike, which mildly surprised me due to its age.

I really loved Savannah, Georgia - one of my favorite places, although I loved all the areas I was in.
